George Getz led to a very interesting life for many reasons.

George Getz was born in 1865. In 1878 George Getz moved in with his older brother Henry to start a new life. In 1904 he married Susuan Danielle Rankin, and 1908 they had their first child. He opened a zoo in 1915. There were chickens, bears, monkeys, camels, donkeys, and raccoons, and many, many more animals. The zoo was free for the public to see all the animals and enjoy them with their families and friends. In 1918 George joined the Red Cross to help the soldiers in world war I.

As you can see George led a very interesting life. He was married and started a family. He saved lives and helped during the war. He left a lasting impact on his community with his free zoo.

GEORGE GETZ

By Paul

George Getz was a good man. One thing that made him a good man was he

bought land and lots of animals like Nancy the elephant,  foxes,  eagles, wildcats,  leopards,  badgers,  coyotes,   monkeys and more .

Another reason he was a good man was that he  invited the public to his farm. Every year it was free until 1932 when he charged admission The entry was 25 cents for adults and 10 for children. In addition he offered to sell the farm to Michigan for $ 62,ooo over 20 years. Michigan didn’t take it.

He also majorly supported  the Red Cross with money and actually joined it for World War I. The American Red Cross, also known as The American National Red Cross, is a humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness education in the United States  of America. As you can see George Getz is a wonderful person.

GEORGE GETZ AND I

By Grace

George Getz and I are very different but we have some similarities . Like we both host parties. I go to the State Park beach for the Fourth of July, he hosts BBQ parties on the Fourth of July . Another example is  that  George Getz and I both own acres.   He has lots of land (253 acres)  ,I have a medium size piece of land. So Getz has a bigger piece of land than I do.  Another similarity Getz and I  have is we both have animals.  However, George has big zoo animals like an elephant, a monkey, and a hippo.   I only have a dog and used to have a cat, but never a monkey ! Also Getz and I improved our land.  For example Getz got more land and put more and more stuff on it. I did not put much in my yard.  I only put a mini playground and a trampoline.  This is not as much as Getz did !!! Another thing me and Getz have in common  is  we both have siblings.  Getz has 15 people in his family including his mom and dad.  In my family I have one brother and sister and two parents . As you can see Getz and I are alike and different, that's what makes us unique in our  own ways .

GEORGE GETZ'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS

By Ryder and Derek

George Getz accomplished many things in his life. For example,he became a millionaire. How he became a millionaire is that he worked at a coal company for many years. He was a great businessman. For example he did a lot for the Globe Foundation. He was paid an ok amount of money.  Another accomplishment was that Mr.Getz was a major supporter of the American Red Cross for many things. Another way he accomplished many things is with his zoo.  For example he got land for his zoo. Also he got a lot of animals for his zoo. He also invited the public to his zoo. In order to open a zoo, he had to get animals.  So, George went on lots of safaris in Africa. Back then, safaris were about $500 a person. George took both of his sons! That would be $1500! On the safaris George hunted and bought animals for the zoo. George ran a zoo and he invited everyone to the zoo free of charge. This is how he accomplished things for his zoo. Next, George threw many BBQ parties. He even had a barbeque for Fred Green, who was running for governor of Michigan. Thousands of people showed up.  That shows George Getz was a very busy man and how Goerge Getz accomplished many things.

GEORGE GETZ AND I

By Colten

George Getz and I don’t have much in common. Our families are different because he had 13 siblings and I have one brother and one sister. We both are the youngest though. George lived in a bunch of more states than I did like Florida, Chicago,Illinois, Pennsylvania and had a summer home in Holland, Michigan. I only lived in Holland. Finally our interests are different because he liked plants, flowers, and animals. I like to hunt, play basketball, play soccer, play lacrosse, dogs, and my favorite color is green. There George Getz and I don’t have much in common.
